At this time, we intend to acquire 1st World Publication Rights in the English Language and non-exclusive electronic and podcasting rights.

We'll post more information about our contract terms when we have signed agreements from our contributors. The terms will be very similar to those used for the 2034 anthology.

Why does my submission for the Rochester Rewritten anthology have to be RTF? What is RTF?

  • Rochester Rewritten FAQ

'RTF' stands for 'Rich Text Format'. It's a file-format developed by Microsoft to allow for cleaner transfers of documents from one word-processing program to another. [Rich Text Format @ Wikipedia]

We're asking that all submissions be in RTF to ensure that we can get your work to our readers in a form that's easy for them to work with, and that we can get manuscripts that have been selected to our editor and designer in a form that they can readily use. (Which helps you by ensuring that our readers, editor and designer don't have to work hard to read your work.)

Most modern word processing software can save files in RTF format. [Hints on how to convert your document to RTF.]

How can I convert my manuscript to RTF?

Most modern word processors can save documents in rich text format using a feature called "Save As" or something similar.

In most cases, you will do something like this:

  1. Select File, Save As
  2. Look for a field or a pull-down labeled something like "Save File as Type". (On Windows and Macintosh software, it's usually toward the bottom of the Save As dialog.) Select "Rich Text Format" or "RTF".
  3. Save the file. You should keep a copy of the file that you send to us, for reference, so put it somewhere you can remember.

Consult the Help system for your own word processing software for further assistance.
