The Merger of Blogs and Sites

Submitted by eDave on Thu, 04/30/2009 - 20:12

Yes, it's been a while since my last blog entry. That is largely because a lot of what I would post as blog entries have been of enough relevance to the main site that I've been creating stories on the main site instead of using the material for blog fodder. There was one post I was assembling about the asteroid Apophis, but I'm not sure whether it merits a post. It probably does. See, when it was first spotted, it was thought to have a high probability of hitting Earth in 2039. Subsequent calculations have determined that it will almost certainly NOT hit Earth, after all, but will get awfully close for comfort, passing within some 40,000 miles of Earth. I think it's actually closer, like within 22,000 miles, which is closer than geosynchronous satellites, and the thing is pretty big. But I didn't want to alarm anyone. Of course, now I've done it anyway, so I guess I'll post about it soon. Sigh. Anyway, at least I have a blog entry from all of this! :-P
