The topic of the meeting was writer's block. Janice Carello led a discussion of the problems, their causes, and some solutions, including some ideas about processes to reach solutions. Links to PDFs of "mind maps" of the discussion appear below. Here are the notes taken during the meeting, which the mind maps actually relate better.

Problems/Causes:

  • Query letters
  • Difficulty making regular time for writing
  • Lack of desire to do work writing affects ability/desire to do creative writing
  • Guilt spending time alone writing when feel should be spending time with family

Solutions/Approaches:

  • Make regular time for writing

Even if don't write at all, sit there in front of the writing tool

Brain gets used to notion and block erodes

  • Think of someone close to you and how that individual would see the problem
  • Imagine what would have to happen tonight for you to wake up and have the problem be gone
