This Tuesday, September 6, Patt Rapp will discuss Augmented Reality, or AR: the real-time enhancement of our real world with digital information. More than just Virtual Reality's hipper cousin, it's arguably where "virtual" and "real" realities converge and germinate into new, vital forms. We can expect Pat's talk to be informed by her enthusiasm for virtual worlds, long experience in library science and her passion for finding new ways to engage people with information. Expect her to spend at least some time talking about augmented reality games, and how games in general can serve as a means to communicate and educate.
Fire up FourSquare, login to your favorite Augmented Reality game and join us in the Community Room at the Pittsford Barnes & Noble on Tuesday evening. As usual, we'll socialize from about 7-7:30, and as usual we'll go around the room to find out what people are reading and see if anyone has a writing problem they'd like help with.
Pat is a co-founder and Director at the Center for Virtual Worlds Education and Research, as well as Webmaster for the Fairport Public Library, where she also serves as a Library Technology Specialist. Pat has as many years of experience as you can have in this business, and a real passion for using technology to enhance life, rather than just as a toy. Though she does love her tech-toys....
